Nipam spoke about Hox genes and our research at the David W. Smith Workshop on Malformations and Morphogenesis to an audience of mostly MD’s gathered to better understand how human malformations occur and the underlying mechanisms of morphogenesis. Nipam’s talk, “The evolution of body patterning: insights from
the analysis of Hox function in crustaceans” helped to connect basic research in model organisms and the practical treatment of diseases in humans.
