Jennifer is accepted into the UC Davis Pre-Medical Surgical Program

September 7, 2013

Congratulations to Jennifer for being chosen to participate in this prestigious program!

The UC Davis Pre-Medical Surgical Internship, Mentorship, and Research Program is a unique and rigorous experience that exposes participants to the field of surgery by immersing them in a professional medical environment. Program components are designed to introduce the academic and clinical activities typically experienced by physicians and medical students.

The site for the program is the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. This 650-bed hospital is the major teaching affiliate for the UC Davis School of Medicine. The hospital serves an area of tremendous diversity in both cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. It is a Level 1 Trauma Center and home to the only burn center, children’s hospital, and transplant center in Northern California. It is one of the five busiest Trauma Centers in the country.

Participants will interact with physicians in the Department of Surgery and observe them through every step of patient care. They will experience what surgeons do on a daily basis as they encounter patient-physician interactions in the clinics, pre and post-operative units, operating rooms, and bedside meetings during rounds.
